The Nudibranch!

The Nudibranch is a slow-mover deep sea creature which at it’s juvenile stage leaves it’s shell and roams around in the ocean. There are over 3000 types of species identified about this category. Usually in simple words you can say them the sea snails.

This unique deep sea living creature have some vibrant features.

Such as there are thousands of species of them available but among them two types of them took out the most attention as they are specially classified from the way they breath.

One is by spikes having all over their body and one having gills to breath.

Do you know this species communicate with each other by smell?

Well they have two antenna alike thing named rhinophores which are basically their nostril coming out of their head which helps them also in navigating and finding their prey.

How cool is that!

This unique species have various color combination found all over their category!

Usually their color represents threat to other predators like sea turtle. Their vibrant color usually works as a warning for them! Interesting theory about their coloration says that, they consume their food with the color!

Didn’t quite got it right?

Well the foods they eat through is the place the took out their color and blend in-to it. Cool feature to be honest!

As they usually takes of their shell in the baby form, they usually needs some defense mechanism right?

Well one is their vibrant color as they serve as warnings and another is that some use camouflage as their defense mechanism!

Well this has been about their defense mechanism. An another really cool factor is that they also can be used as solar powers of the sea!

How?

Well they usually consume corals and from

that they introduce themselves with photosynthesize by taking out the algae which is named by zooxanthellae! How cool is that?

Well on the other hands do you know that this species can lay eggs in between both the parents?

Well firstly in the time of mating they use their rhinophores to attract or findout their mates and they can change their gender. So mating is easy for them luckily.

Sometimes while mating their organs gets detached or teared but luckily this is also not an issue for them!

They can regenerate their body part again. Filled with fascinating features right?

There are some specific species

among them who do not need food to survive. Well on the beginning of their lives for the first few weeks , maybe two or three, they eat photosynthesize algae from the coral and they store the algae inside their body. Which algae can produce energy from which they can easily survive through their lives not eating anything!

This unique species doesn’t lives that much of a time. Mostly they live up-to average one years.

Usually this small bright creatures are

called to be carnivorous. Which indicates their diet into anemones, coral , algae , sponges and so on. They have a powerful jaw named radula , great in scraping food from the rocks. Some feed on toxin animals and store them in specialized cells to aid themselves as an defense mechanism.

In general they are so unique! The coloration and varieties will blew your mind! When at first I saw them and knew nothing,

I also thought that they are out of this world!
