Howdy folks!
Hope you all are doing well in this beautiful day. Like every other day I am back with another interesting and fresh topic!
Today’s blog will be really interesting!
Today I will talk about
My best three picks when it comes to saltwater!
You might think I am selecting these three for just their coloration! But No! There is a lot of factor related to this field.
I am considering their captivity, easy maintenance and size capacity while selecting this fishes. And my choice of color also is included here!
So let’s not waste any bit of time and let’s just dive into the topic!
Our first pick
Mandarin fish
Mandarin fish are a saltwater category fish which can be found atleast 60 feet deep in the ocean. Mostly they are bottom dweller fish who maximum of their lifetime stay’s hidden in the corals as they have vibrant color.
They can grow upto 2.5 inch’s which is really small yet they can be the predators attention because of their various color combination in their body. But they have a defense mechanism. They can release a bad smell type of mucus which can make the experience bad of the predator who is trying to swallow it.
Also it’s vibrant color indicates danger in the nature as like other vibrant color thinks are mostly toxic.
As an example the poisonous frog from the amazon forest! In the wile this fish are thought to be lived for decades but in the aquarium their lifespan is reduced quite a bit because of the captivity. Mostly this fish needs live food and they collect food from the bottom in the ocean. Your aquarium must have a system to produce live food for them. Corals might help. Also they will eat baby snails and amphipods.
Really beautiful fish to keep in thr aquarium. Usually the male is larger in size then of females. Females likes mating with the largest male possible and can lay up to 200 eggs per session.
How can to differentiate between male and female?
Well the male has a bigger dorsal fin coming out of it’s body where a female doesn’t have that.
Usually this Mandarin fish is really territorial when it comes for their adulthood. I love this fishes nature!
In the wild they comes out of their cave when the sun sets and hunts down their prey. I am considering them my first choice while building a saltwater tank.
My second pick
Our Nemo or Clownfish
Clownfish are such a sweetheart and I love them. Clownfish are mostly known from the movie Finding Nemo as the main character was a clownfish. They have a fully orange body which has white stripes over all it’s body which makes them the center of attraction.
In the wild they stay inside an anemone
as a friend. Scientist haven’t still been able to find out that how can clownfish stay inside an anemone which is poisonous!
But I believe nature has it’s own way of responding. While keeping them inside an aquarium it’s not mandatory to provide them an anemone. You can add rocks instead. As inside aquarium their will not be any fear of the predators and they don’t need to hide themselves right?
Such a beautiful looking fish but hey have another interesting factor of them!
Wanna know?
Well from when a clownfish is born it has no gender.
It is always born with a gender identity of male. When it reaches it’s adulthood, the fish which is the largest among the group changes it’s gender identity as female.
So there is no extra hassle of selecting pairs when this fish are collected. Just buy a small one and a big one! Also make sure to have a strong hood as your nemo fish would love to jump out of their tank as it comes in their nature.
Really fascinating fish to keep right?
Okay now we have come down to our last pick
So my third pick will be
Saltwater Angelfish
Saltwater angelfish are saltwater versions of our regular angelfish. They are in comparison bigger in size with much more color variations available. They can also grow bigger than freshwater angelfish.
I love the way their face structure has shaped
. Kind of like a seahorse. The have really big fins going backwords over their body and their vibrant color will be a great option for you. But last two fishes I have talked about would not require much of space while keeping. But in order to keep saltwater angelfish you would be needing a slightly bigger tank. Which might be an issue for some of you! But I still believe they are really interesting fish to keep!
Okay this has been my three picks when it comes to saltwater fish! Will meet you guys with another interesting blog in another day. Till then stay safe and keep your loving pets safe!
