Howdy Everyone!
Hope You all are doing really well in this beautiful day.
Like every other day, I am back with another really cool topic.
It’s more of a necessary thing to know. Specially for the beginners.
At first when I went into this aquarium hobby, I didn’t knew about this thing of PH and other stuffs. But when time passed by, I get to know all of this stuffs properly!
So my recommendation will to know this facts properly so that you get the best outcome from the very beginning so that you don’t face those issues that I have faced!
So let’s start from the basic of Power Of Hydrogen(PH)
Power Of Hydrogen( PH)
Usually the PH level 7.0 is considered as a neutral condition for the water.
Bellow 7.0
leads towards acidic. And
More than 7.0
Can indicate alkaline type of water.
Basically most of the fish live under 6.5 to 8.0 PH level but their might be some exceptions!
South American Fish and crystal shrimps can tolerate a PH level bellow 7.0.
And in other case fishes like African Cichlids which are my favorite fish to keep, Can tolerate a PH level of more than 7.0!
Measurement of PH is not always the most necessary thing to do.
It is specially needed when you are trying to breed inside your aquarium or you are trying to raise the fries inside your aquarium. These are critical situations when your fish should not consume stress or the fries are really small to inhale stress. That’s why during that time you need to be extra careful!
When the health issues are seen, you need to measure PH level as sometimes because of High or Low PH level, your fish may face some difficulties.
As we are speaking of Power of Hydrogen in terms of PH, do you know when you will really face the need of PH?
Well if you have a regular tank which has no live plants inside them, I believe the maintenance of your tank comes up-to easier level. And if you have a planted tank, I am sure that It is necessary to measure your PH level accordingly in general!
Plants need right PH to survive fully.
Otherwise you will see discoloration or your plants will not grow accordingly as required generally. So for this case, measuring your PH is a must!
Speaking of PH, You need to know how to measure the level of your PH!
You can use the API Freshwater Master Test Kit!
The API kit comes with two different measurement kit. One is the regular PH and another is the super High PH.
For measurement ,
fill out your test-tube with 5Ml aquarium water and put three drops of regular PH bottle and shake the test-tube for few times. You will see a coloration. Then match the coloration with the given chart inside the PH kit box.
Usually when the coloration is very very blue, consider the PH really high.
And for the super high PH bottle, use 5 drops of that liquid inside your test-tube filled with aquarium water, shake it and then compare with the chart bellow the regular PH chart given in the kit box!
The most interesting and Challenging factor while maintaining your PH level will be that,
PH will change naturally inside your aquarium. Well that’s true they will change naturally!
So maintaining a balanced PH in your aquarium is always necessary as most of the fish will be easy to keep when you have the PH level sitting in between 6.5 to 8.0!
To maintain a balance PH you need to measure your aquariums PH level regularly.
Now let’s come to the critical topic of how to maintain natural
PH level if it’s get low
1.Regular changing water is a must. Change 20 to 25 percent water every 1 to 2 weeks after to maintain a balanced PH level!
2. Add boil pieces of driftwood inside your aquarium.
3. Aerate the water.
I believe this will do!
And what if the water’s PH raises more then the level 0.7? What can you do then?
1. You can add peat moss inside your aquarium to lower the PH level!
2. You can use Indian almonds.
3. Water changes is also compatible here!
I believe this blog will be really helpful for you. Hope to see you tomorrow with a new blog.
Till then stay safe and keep your loving pet’s safe!
